The New President Of India: Pranab Mukherjee
Finally Pranab has sworn the oath of an office as New president of India by the chief justice of India SH Kapadia in the Central Hall of Parliament at 11.30 am on 25th July 2012.His words “I, Pranab Mukherjee, do swear in the name of God that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the Republic of India, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution and the law, and that I will devote myself to the service and well-being of the people of the Republic of India.”
As he finished his oath for being President of India, he then exchanged his chair with Pratibha Patil the first lady President of India.He was given 21 gun salutes.In the central hall gathering Pranab said he was deeply moved by the high honour. He said, “I will protect and defend our Constitution not just in letter but also in spirit,”.
“I will stay impartial as President,” “Pranab assured everyone.Pranab said education has the capability to take India to golden era, in order to progress focus on agriculture .Also said “Our job is to work; results will automatically come,”.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Cabinet ministers and other dignitaries attended the oath taking ceremony of Pranab Mukherjee. Pranab’s family with all other relatives from West Bengal were also gathered in full strength to see him sit on the chair of President.

Three defence chief of staffs also attended oath swearing ceremony of their new supreme commander.Pranab travelled to his new home Rashtrapati Bhawan from parliament with Pratibha Patil who is now former President.He was given an inter-services guard of honor, Hazaar Salam at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
