Pranab mukhrjee resign as Finance Minister and files nomination for presidential poll

Pranab Mukherjee today filed his nomination papers for the July 19 presidential elections in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and a host of leaders. Polling will be held on July 19 and India will have a new President by July 22.  Before this Pranab Mukherjee  submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the July 19 Presidential poll and has now finishes his three years in the Finance Ministry .
Pranab-Mukherjee77-year-old a veteran congress leader said “I stand ready to embark on a new journey.” After submitting his resignation as he moves out from his North Block, he profusely giving thanks to the media and all other supporters . The leader of the lok Sabha and trouble-shooter of UPA’s government Pranab Mukherjee was expected to file his nomination papers today and today it has been done.

Four sets of nomination papers, signed by as many as 480 MPs and MLAs, including Union ministers, chief ministers, Congress legislature party leaders and PCC chiefs were submitted by Pranab mukhrjee.

Convenor of the opposition NDA and JD(U) president Sharad Yadav was the first signatory on one set of nomination papers followed by defence minister AK Antony. Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati have also signed the nomination papers.

Pranab said in his last message said he felt “honoured” and “humbled” nominated as a candidate for the Presidential election with support from SP, BSP, JD(U), Shiv Sena, CPI-M, Forward Bloc and other parties as well.

Later this afternoon, Mr Sangma, who is supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party, the AIADMK and the Biju Janata Dal, will also file his papers in what is expected to be an equal show of strength.
